Guntersville, Alabama

As you search for a retirement home, I suggest that you take a look at Guntersville, Alabama.

Guntersville is located about 30 miles southeast of Huntsville.  It is also only about 65 miles from Birmingham and 128 miles from Nashville so it is pretty easy to get to a larger city to further enjoy your retirement life.  The main attraction of Guntersville is Guntersville Lake.

Guntersville has a poulation of about 8,000 people.  88% of the population is white, 8% black and 4 % hispanic.  72% of the population votes Republican and only 26% vote Democrat.

The climate of Gunteresville is fairly mild with the average high temperature above 50 degrees in 11 months of the year.  January’s average high is only 48, December’s is 52 and February is 54 degrees.  All of the other months top 60 degrees.

While Guntersville gets little snow (about 1.6″ per year), they do get a lot of rain.  March (6.2″), January (5.1″) and February (5.0″) are the wettest months.  Guntersville averages about 53″ of rain per year.

For those looking for a good retirement life, Guntersville seems like a good place to look at.  With Lake Guntersville you have plenty of outdoor water activities plus you are only about an hour from Birmingham and 2 hours from Nashville.
