Bullhead City, Arizona

If you are looking for a lot of sunshine and warm weather Bullhead City, Arizona should be in your retirement life plan of cities for relocation.

Bullhead City is on the Arizona, Nevada and California border.  You can truly say it is in the desert southwest.  Bullhead City is about 204 miles northwest of Phoenix and about 86 miles southeast of Las Vegas.

There is a population of about 34,000 in Bullhead city with the majority of people being either White (75%) or Hispanic (20%).

The annual rainfall in Bullhead City is about 6″ with the “wettest” month being February with an average of .99″ of rain.  If it snows in Bullhead City then we should start worrying about global cooling.

The average high temperatures in December and January are 65 degrees for each month. February, March and November average in the 70’s.  April’s average high temperature is 87 degrees.  May and October each average in the 90’s.  That leaves June, July, August  and Septmeber where the average high temperatures are 107, 111, 109 and 102 degrees respectively.

As I said at the beginning, Bullhead City has plenty of sunshine as they have 285 sunny days per year.

With the sunshine and only being 86 miles from the glitter and entertainment of Las Vegas, Bullhead City may be a place to consider in your retirement life planning.  It it ranked in the top 25 of my personal choices.

Kodiak, Alaska

Alaska is the most tax friendly state in the United States.  Personally it is too cold for me, but some people may be interested in Alaska so I am going to post some information about Kodiak so you can use it in your retirement life planning.

Kodiak is a city of about 6,000 people.  It is located about 296 miles southwest of Anchorage.

As I mentioned earlier, Alaska is too cold for me, Kodiak gets about 76″ of snow per year.  The average high temperatures do stay fairly consistent.  November through March the average high temperature is in the 30’s  with January and February being the coldest months at 35 degrees each.  April, May and October averages in the 40’s.  June and September average in the 50’s.  July and August average in the 60’s with August being the warmest month with an average high of a sweltering 61 degrees.

Alaska has a high cost of living, however, that is balanced out by the extremely low taxes.

If you don’t mind a colder climate, Kodiak, Alaska should be on your list to relocate to upon retirement.

Guntersville, Alabama

As you search for a retirement home, I suggest that you take a look at Guntersville, Alabama.

Guntersville is located about 30 miles southeast of Huntsville.  It is also only about 65 miles from Birmingham and 128 miles from Nashville so it is pretty easy to get to a larger city to further enjoy your retirement life.  The main attraction of Guntersville is Guntersville Lake.

Guntersville has a poulation of about 8,000 people.  88% of the population is white, 8% black and 4 % hispanic.  72% of the population votes Republican and only 26% vote Democrat.

The climate of Gunteresville is fairly mild with the average high temperature above 50 degrees in 11 months of the year.  January’s average high is only 48, December’s is 52 and February is 54 degrees.  All of the other months top 60 degrees.

While Guntersville gets little snow (about 1.6″ per year), they do get a lot of rain.  March (6.2″), January (5.1″) and February (5.0″) are the wettest months.  Guntersville averages about 53″ of rain per year.

For those looking for a good retirement life, Guntersville seems like a good place to look at.  With Lake Guntersville you have plenty of outdoor water activities plus you are only about an hour from Birmingham and 2 hours from Nashville.
